First philosophy:
trying to consider the difference between
the right and the useful
after mopping up large pools of piss
with blue old-corporation paper towels.
We pass the Rainbow Casino.
Imagine velveteen inside with yellowing leaf hands
shaking on green baize and outside painted lifeless white.
Nothing more shows up till after my stop.
A little later, the door will close on unhinging evening rain
and I'll be properly done in.
No serious kind of Cartesian, me;
blurred person on blue sofa in this room.
The book in hand on the 127 (Portland Road) was Meditations on First Philosophy.
ReplyDeleteTerrific poem, brilliant "felt" leap of texture and colour from the sopping piss drenched old-corporation blue paper towels to the imaginal velveteen/yellowing leaf/green baize interior and outside lifeless tomb-white of the Rainbow Casino.
ReplyDeleteOne does enjoy a rainbow.
Really the place improves with recursion to its preliminary state of rack and ruin.
Just read the grand opening photos backwards.
Thanks, TC.
ReplyDeleteAs to the Casino, you're right: rack and ruin worked a whole lot better.
Could you go to this, bring your friends?
